Tres Dias grew out of the Catholic Cursillo, which has been used for church renewal since it started in 1949 in Spain. The hope then, which remains the same today, is that cursillo would bring a renewed spirit of Christianity to the modern world. Cursillo then came to the US in 1957, where it spread quickly to various parts of the country. Some protestant Christians attended a cursillo and realized its message spanned all the Christian denominations. Tres Dias is the ecumenical version of Cursillo, with the same basic message – God loves all of us, and wants us to be his hands in this world. Tres Dias of Northern New Jersey was one of the first Tres Dias communities, and has been
around for close to 40 years.
